History

The brainchild of  the late Dr. Leticia, Perez de Guzman, an educator, a civic leader, peace advocate, cultural ambassador and promoter of women’s cause and family solidarity. Was created as a women’s movement by the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the national government machinery mandated to ensure the integration of women in nationbuilding.

Its creation was supported  by 92 non-government organizations with  Presidential Proclamation 1609 as legal operating mandate declaring January 6 of every year as “Araw ng Balikatan” was organized nationwide by 24 women leaders called “Miracle Seeds” was converted from a purely women’s organization into a family organization in 1994 under the leadership of Ms. Guia G.
